Rowing for a cause

Tesco HSC employees row for 24 hours to support cancer care
 
Bangalore/ UK 20 February, 2009: Employees from Tesco Hindustan Service Centre along with their counterparts in the UK today organized a 24 hours rowing event to raise money for a noble cause. 34 employees from Tesco HSC and 47 employees from Tesco UK set themselves a target to raise £1800 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, UK. Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing totally free, to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families. The proceeds from the event will pay for ten nights of care at home from a Marie Curie Cancer Care nurse. The rowing machines were linked via a video link so that the teams could keep track of the progress made. In addition to raising money the employees will also attempt to unofficially break the World Record for the greatest distance rowed in 24 hours which currently stands at 263 kilometers.
