Tesco Hindustan Service Centre is the global services arm building competitive advantage for Tesco - the world's third largest retailer. The centre sits at the heart of the Tesco group, and provides IT, business, finance and commercial services to Tesco operations across Europe and Asia.

Tesco is the first global retailer of any significant size to have a fully owned IT and off shoring operation in India. The centre went live in May 2004, currently employing over 6000 employees.

There is a significant amount of domain expertise and intellectual property that is housed within Tesco. Our core challenge is to create value for customers to earn their lifetime loyalty. All the teams that work out of our centre add value to different parts of the business and that is what the differentiator at Tesco HSC is. We are retailers at heart and globally retail is a breeding ground for the best managers. We believe that at Tesco HSC we understand the business requirements be it on supply chain, replenishment, product layout in stores, front-ending functions etc.

The "Get Curious" campaign at Tesco HSC
Get Curious To encourage innovating thinking and ideas, Tesco HSC had recently launched an internal campaign called "Get Curious" View video. Through the campaign, staff at HSC were urged to constantly ask themselves - what can we do better? How can we make the Tesco retail experience richer? Where can we implement the latest technology and processes to further streamline Tesco's global retail functions?

Going a step further, HSC organized an 'Innovation Summit' for IT and "Bulbs" for Business Services and Finance Services which is a platform for the employees to showcase their innovative ideas. Over 600 varied ideas ranging from thought provoking to practical were submitted to the committee. While some of these ideas have been implemented and others are in progress.one thing is quite clear. it is just the beginning of a revolution. Innovation Summit video.
