| Reaching out for a better tomorrow |
A Fortune company, a global visionary, a retail innovator... these are terms attributed to Tesco. But there's more to add - education, awareness and humanitarianism. Tesco HSC reflects the attributes that Tesco follows wherever it is located. In Bangalore, Tesco HSC has undertaken community projects where our employees help in bringing smiles to the lives of those less privileged.
Our theme for the Corporate Responsibility programme is "Empowerment through Education". This is our fifth year of engaging with a corporate responsibility programme supported extensively by our staff with a strong sponsorship and commitment from the management.

| Our social projects include: |
 |
Parikrma Humanity Foundation: This is a non-profit organisation solely dedicated to empowering children, from economically backward families, through education. Their schools are located in Koramangala, Jayanagar, Sahakarnagar and Yelahanka in Bangalore. From sponsoring their daily studies to extra-curricular activities involving games, music and art, we have also volunteered across these schools and visited
them on a regular basis.
|
 |
Actively supporting local communities: In November 2011 we started a ‘Give as you earn’ scheme, allowing staff to make a donation from their salary to support grass roots charities. Our colleagues also participated in fundraising initiatives including a silent auction, raffle draw, coin collection, clothes donation drive and charity sale.
|
 |
Helping senior citizens navigate the Net: Our volunteers took part in workshops to help senior citizens understand the internet better. We organised the programme alongside the Nightingale Trust for Elders. During the session participants had the opportunity to learn and develop basic computer skills including email navigation and internet search.

| Let's walk together to a greener tomorrow |
Tesco HSC has been frequent recepient of the Best Green Garden Campus Award. This goes to show how firmly we believe in leaving the planet greener for future generations, and reducing our carbon footprint. Here’s a look at our latest initiatives.
Our employees participated in the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon, and we celebrated ‘Clean up the world’ week with several initiatives aimed at educating and creating awareness on conservation.
We use LED lamps for all interior lighting purposes in our campuses. And successfully implemented infra secure software on the desktops to automatically hibernate the system when not in use.
We have introduced rainwater harvesting mechanism within our campus to collect surface run-off and rooftop water. This water will be used to meet our requirements as well as helping to replenish the water table which will benefit the local community.
